Healthier Brain

I was reading the scriptures and when I ran across the words, "prepare your minds" in Alma 34:3. I asked myself, "self, what does it mean to prepare my mind?" (All kidding aside, I have learned that when I am reading good literature and ask myself a question, I am really seeking answers from Heavenly Father--a source of wisdom infinitely greater than my own) At that moment, I happened to look at my computer screen that I had left on an article from the night before, and there was the article, "Want a healthier brain? Avoid these 7 habits." (Huffington Post Science) Coincidence? I don't think so. I love it when science and spirituality meet and support one another.

So it was with renewed interest that I read the article and knew that I need to practice the suggestions found in research in order to fulfill my spiritual mandate to prepare my mind in order to "plant the word in your hearts, that ye may try the experiment of its goodness." (Alma 34:4) It was one of those epiphany moments where I gained greater insight and wisdom and I knew that how well I take care of my brain will create a ripple affects for goodness. It once again supports my belief that all components of self affect each other like the points of a star are connected--the physical part of us affects the spiritual and so on.

My next post will include the 7 things to avoid and what to do instead. I like to work on having a "greater yes burning" (Stephen R. Covey) than just focusing on what not to do.
